The present study examines the way in which one hunting group composed of 13 individuals exploited the resources of their traditional hunting territory during a period of one year, 1953-54. The group formed a part of the Mistassini Cree who still live in northern Quebec and formerly extracted much of their subsistence from the harsh subarctic environment. The study attempts to present a view of the seasonal subsistence activities of this hunting group which exploited a limited source base from which they derived a high percentage of the goods necessary for their existence. - from the Summary.
