Author: A.L.O.E. [A Lady of England, Charlotte Maria Tucker]
A.L.O.E. was a prolific writer of moral stories for Christian youth, who lived and wrote in the mid- to late 1800s. At the age of 54, she decided to become a missionary in India, where she continued writing stories, first in English for translation, and then in the language of the area she worked in. She continued in this field until her death in 1893.
Lake of the Woods is set in Northwestern Ontario, and follows the life of a trapper on the lake, weaving the events of the story into an allegory for a few verses of Romans (sorry... this edition doesn't say which ones, and I can't remember!). The first edition was published in 1887.Book Price: $75.00
