The Parish Registers of St. Antholin, Budge Row, London containing the Marriages, Baptisms, and Burials from 1538 to 1754; and of St. John the Baptist on Wallbrook, London, containing the Baptisms and Burials from 1682 to 1754.
The Church of St. Antholin was rebuilt by Sir Thomas Knowles (Lord Mayor of London in 1399 and 1410) and his son, Thomas Knowles. It was repaired in 1616 and again in 1682, due to damage suffered in the great fire of 1666. The building was demolished in 1874 and annexed to St. Mary Aldermary. This CD contains marriages, baptisms, and burials from 1538 to 1754.
The Church of St. John Baptist was originally built in 1412, burned down in the fire of 1666, and, annexed to St. Antholin, the site served as a churchyard for the inhabitants of both parishes. This CD includes baptisms and burials from 1682 to 1754. Original full name and place index.
The books are presented as graphic images, so the user sees the works just as they were originally published. They are intended to look and function very much like "real" books, i.e., the user looks for entries of interest in the table of contents or index, and then turns to the page cited and scans it for the desired information. This is accomplished using the powerful Adobe Acrobat Reader that is provided free on the CD for Windows and Macintosh systems. Although there are no electronic indexes, numerous electronic bookmarks have been added which make it easy to navigate through the books and indexes, and to jump from one book to another. This CD is best viewed with monitor resolution 800x600 or higher. - from the insert.
